Description
GAITHERSBURG, MD — Nearly 100 Montgomery County students were honored at the 2020 Regional Virtual High School Summer School graduation ceremony on Friday.
The summer school commencement ceremony marks a new beginning for these students — whether it's going to college or starting a new job. Unlike previous celebrations, this year's event was held virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
"You have reached a major milestone in your life," Dr. Henry Johnson, Montgomery County Public Schools' chief of staff, said during his opening remarks. "Not only have you successfully completed your formal education, but you are now prepared to go out into the world and take on those challenges that turned your lives and our lives upside down. Despite everything around you changing by the day, by the hour, and the minute, you remained focused, understanding that the prize was far greater than any obstacles that stood in your way."
The event will be replayed on MCPS TV (Comcast 34 (HD 998), Verizon 36, RCN 89. It is also available on the MCPS TV YouTube channel.
