The Shield Fund provides emergency financial assistance to Michigan Medicine students.
Standard financial aid and official institutional subsidies fail to address the needs of dozens of Michigan Medicine students each year. Poverty among college students has been directly associated with decreased rates of degree completion, fewer resources to support academic success, homelessness and acute hunger, increased stress, and reduced focus. Students from low-income households and students who identify as under-represented minorities in medicine are especially at risk. The Shield Fund bridges these financial gaps to enable these students to persist in pursuit of their medical degrees. Your donation will help a student in the Michigan Medicine community continue his or her path toward successful completion of their degree.
