Description

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Montgomery County pesticide law that does not apply to Gaithersburg residents and businesses has been adopted by city officials, a spokesperson announced Thursday. Enacted in May of 2019, the Montgomery County Pesticide Law prohibits the use of certain pesticides — like "weed & feed" products — on lawns, playgrounds, mulched recreation areas, and child care facilities. Only organic or minimum-risk pesticides are allowed in the county. The law did not apply to businesses and residents in Gaithersburg until the mayor and City Council voted to adopt it on Monday, according to Britta Monaco, the city's public information director. The law will take effect in Gaithersburg on Dec. 1. Click here for more information about the pesticide law.
