What if tomorrow wasn't promised? What if today was all you had? Don't let it be to late for you. This play is about a young man who was injured in a horrific accident and is currently on life support at the general hospital. Family and friends have been contacted to come to the hospital out of fear that he may not survive the night. Family, friends and a few others try to come to grips with this sudden tragedy as they prepare to say their goodbye to their dearly beloved. There are so many moments not taken advantage of and so many words unsaid, don’t let it be too late. This production is about those missed moments and how we take for granted that we don’t own time and we never know how much we have left. We uncover some of those missed opportunities as the characters unfold. Characters: Patient: Background / Extra, Male, 18+ Physician who is assigned to the patient's care. Physician dictates the patient file and comes out to speak with the family to update them on his condition. Patient's Spirit: Lead, Male Character is rebellious at home. Good guy but can be stubborn. Spends more time with his friends than his family. Even though his family is religious. He doesn't have much interest in God or church. Lead Character. Sibling: Lead, Male, Younger brother. Quite guy. Helpful but reserved. He is not that outspoken but funny and pretty cool once you've gotten to know him. He is active in church with his family and does a lot of community service. He is not close to his brother. He feels rejected by his brother because his brother acts like he doesn't want him around. Mother: Lead, Female, Mom who loves both her children. She is harder on the oldest only because that he is the rebellious one. She feels he needs to set an example for the younger brother, instead of the younger brother setting the example for the older one. She prays for them both and she pushes her eldest to try to get back in church and in the Word. The youngest child is considered her easy baby. Father: Lead, Male, He is dedicated and hard working. Loves his family. Does his best to set an example and be there for his kids. he feels close to his kids even though the oldest son gives him the hardest time about doing things he is supposed to do and not doing the things he is not supposed to be doing. He is proud of the youngest son because he has seemed to figure that out a lot sooner than the elder child and is doing well for himself and seems to be headed off in a positive direction. Girlfriend: Lead, Female, Has been dating the patient for about 8 months. She is making plans that will shape the rest of her life. What college, what career, etc. She recently gave her life to the Lord and she is eager to share her happiness with her boyfriend, who she hopes will become more someday. He is just not as ready to change and she thinks that maybe her change will promote him to change. She is persistent. Sister Sadness: Supporting, Female, One of the dramatic church members known for being easily upset, crying and overly dramatic. Brother Blame: Supporting, Male, This character always finds fault and blame with every situation. Very negative. Mr. Resentment: Supporting, Male, 20-65 Character is calm, intelligent and encouraging. He encourages the sibling in the waiting area. Cousin Greed: Supporting, Male, 22-40 He is the family member that always has a sob story and looking for a hand out. It seems to be everyone else's fault why they cant get ahead. He is stingy but don't mind asking you for your last. Nurse Anger: Supporting, All Genders, 23-65 Strong and inspiring individual that also helps the sibling. Girlfriend's Brother: Supporting, Male, Currently not working living at homestays out of trouble and mainly sits around the house and plays video games with guys from time to time. He may drink 1 beer with the guys from time to time but no heavy drinking. He is a bit lazy, but not a bad guy. He loves his sister and sees she is developing strong feeling for her boyfriend. He is cool, if she is happy. Grandmother: Supporting, Male, 50-69 Loving and supporting. Tries to encourage Patient to give the Lord some of his time before it is to late. Script sides will be provided during the audition. Individual auditions will be from 8-10 minutes.
