Join us for an outdoor screening of Swedish Film Sami Blood Along the lines of our newly opened exhibition Arctic Highways: Unbounded Indigenous People - A Traveling Art Exhibition with 12 Indigenous artists from Alaska, Canada and Sápmi that is currently on display in House of Sweden, we will show the Swedish movie Sami Blood on our rooftop the night of April 19. This will be an outdoor screening on the rooftop of House of Sweden. Please plan on bringing a blanket or weather appropriate clothing. Chairs and popcorn will be provided. Feel free to bring your own beverages (no alcohol is allowed). 6:30 pm - Doors open 6:30-7:30pm - Opportunity to view the exhibition in House of Sweden 7:30pm - Film begins on the rooftop Registration and ID is required for admittance. Per DC Mayor’s Order 2022-029, masks are voluntary. About the film A reindeer-breeding Sámi girl who is exposed to the racism of the 1930's at her boarding school, starts dreaming of another life. But to achieve it, she has to become someone else and break all ties with her family and culture. Scroll down to see the trailer!
