Safe Sitter teaches adolescent babysitters how to handle crisis situations and how to keep kids safe while in their care.
Accepting a babysitting job is a big responsibility. Babysitters need to be prepared for anything. That is where Safe Sitter can help. Safe Sitter teaches adolescent babysitters how to handle crisis situations, how prevent danger to keep children in their care safe and secure, and how to nurture and guide young children. In the process, 11-14 year-olds become confident, responsible, and compassionate teens. Safe Sitter teaches babysitters:
Basic first aid skills
Friends & Family version of CPR
How to change diapers and care for children
How to screen babysitting jobs to decide which ones to accept and which ones to refuse
How to talk to a 911 dispatcher
The cost is $60.00 for the one day class that includes the Safe Sitter Backpack/Kit and instruction. There will be a graduation ceremony at 3:30pm. Students can bring their lunch or money to purchase their lunch in the cafeteria. Due to COVID restrictions the number of students is limited to 12 and we are holding the class offsite. We are providing a box lunch and snacks since we cannot access the hospital cafeteria from the class site. Masks are still required within the hospital and the House. We are currently holding the class in the boardroom of Mad Anthonys Children's Hope House on the Lutheran Hospital campus.
