Ruger ("Rue") is a 3yo purebred Irish Setter. He is healthy, housetrained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. He's very large, only weighs about 65lbs but very tall. He stands around 27 inches at the shoulder. Rue was raised with a cat and is very gentle with her, but he WILL chase cats and small animals. He would be fine in a house with a cat, but not other small animals. He has caught/killed several squirrels and lizards. As a hunting breed, he needs a large yard and and active lifestyle. He has no food aggression, is not timid around loud noises or during storms, good with older kids, walks well on leash, knows "bed", "come", "sit", "down", heel". He is not kennel trained. Doesn't have much experience with other dogs, but shows no aggression and is very submissive toward them. He's very cuddly and loves attention. Very eager to please. Friendly and excitable with new people, but will bark at them through a window. All around he is a very good dog and would make a great companion for an active person, or family with older kids. Ruger's only issue is that he completely lacks spacial awareness. He is very energetic and does not understand his size or how close he is. This makes him unsafe around small children. We are unexpectedly pregnant and he would need to spend the next few years separated from our new family member. Excluding him in that way is just not fair to him. Asking a $400 rehoming fee to ensure he finds a good home. He will come with food, treats, flea treatment, 2 large beds, leash, remote training collar, and plenty of toys.
