Assisting with a shoreline cleanup at Donner Lake, and watching Clean Up The Lake's team in action on the water.
Join Four Wheel Campers and Clean Up The Lake (CUTL) for a spring cleanup event at Donner Lake on Sunday, June 12. CUTL is a Tahoe-based nonprofit 501c3 whose mission is to fight back against plastic and all forms of pollution in our global environment, both on land and under the surface. CUTL has been working to remove debris from Donner Lake since June 2020, and their team will be performing a scuba clean up while volunteers assist with litter removal along the north shore of the lake.
SCHEDULE + LOCATIONWe're getting an early start! Please be ready to go at 7am, and we'll wrap things up by 3pm. We'll meet at the West End Boat Launch on Donner Pass Road.
PARKINGThere is limited parking at the West End Boat Launch lot, but ample, free street parking on Donner Pass Road. Parking in this area will give us access to the northeast shore of the lake, where we'll be focusing our cleanup efforts.
VOLUNTEER DUTIESVolunteers will be assisting solely with ground cleanup (i.e., collecting litter by the shore) while CUTL's scuba team retrieves debris from the lake. We'll organize a mid-morning rendezvous point so volunteers can take a break and watch the CUTL team bring debris back to shore, and later in the day we will get a brief categorization demonstration.
