Included is a 4 course tasting dinner sampled from the cookbook & paired cocktails inspired by the food. Food sensitivities and non-alcoholic will be accommodated as requested upon purchase of ticket. Ticket Options: Supper Club (6:30pm) $35: Regular supper club ticket. If your partner has a Cooking Social ticket, and you’d like to come with them to socialize and watch (but not to cook) you can with the Supper Club Only ticket Cooking Social Add-On (4:30pm) $0: Come 2 hours early and help cook the food! This is a chance to experience the cookbook hands on, and get some informal cooking lessons. This ticket add-on has no additional cost, but space is limited in the kitchen. Cookbook Add-On +$35: Add your own copy of the cookbook to your ticket! If purchased with enough leadtime cookbooks will available for pick-up during Supper Club. If not delivery arrangements will be made then. Growing up in Seattle WA asian food was a huge part of the food culture. For years I have looked for "gateway" asian cookbooks which would allow me to learn to cook the food at home, without having me scratching my head on completely alien techniques or hard to source ingrediants. This book is probably the first to check all the boxes for me, and I couldn't be more excited to really dive into it. I was pleasantly surprised to see it broken down by the type of meal you're looking for, something I rarely see: An Com - Things to eat with RiceSharing VegetablesProper Salads, Vietnamese-StyleFeastingHeavenly Noodle SoupsQuick Midweek MealsSweet ThingsBasicsLuu manages to strike that magic balance of letting the reader choose their own level of investment, making this a much more universally appealing book. Her Banh Mi recipe includes a section on how to make your own baguette (including starting your own starter), but also provides guidance on what type to buy if you don't feel up to baking. It also provides 7 options for fillings, 6 of which are components from other recipies in the book making it ideal for using up your leftovers. While there are no essays or insights into the Luu's personal life or history, this book is beautifully photographed, wonderfully organized and thoughtfully curated (my reaction to practically every recipe is "yum! want to try THAT").
