Fashion Show put on by The Fabric Pantry Student Organization at Kent State University.
The Fabric Pantry's main purpose is to provide free fabric for students in the fashion school. This will reduce the deterrent many low-income students have when applying to this cost-heavy major. On top of that, fast fashion has vastly increased the amount of fabric waste in the industry. By allowing students to donate fabric scraps and notions, we will be able to reduce Kent State's contribution to fabric pollution. By doing this fashion show, we will create more awareness for this program on campus.
To further promote the pantry we are hosting a fashion show called “Reduce, Reuse, Runway!” On April 21st, and hope to use Rockwell as the center for it. We have 27 designers and stylists that we were able to gain in two weeks. We are requiring that each look is composed of at least three items from the Fabric Pantry.
Our plan with “Reduce, Reuse, Runway!” is to promote the Fabric Pantry to students and gain more donations and connections throughout Kent State. We will have a donation box at the door for those who would like to contribute to the Fabric Pantry!
We are currently collaborating with the Undergraduate Student Government on campus and have received funding for the whole fashion show, and are looking forward to showing everyone the passion that Kent State gives its Fashion students.
