Numbers 32-23, I often think of this particular verse when respectable politicians are suddenly caught up in scandal because of something that happened many years ago. What they did had been swept under the carpet and forgotten, and some reporter pulled it back to reveal the ugly truth. Suddenly the whole world holds the politician responsible for deeds done in the distant past. Their sins follow them like a stubborn hound dog that's found them out. In the case of David, Nathan pulled the carpet back and the king's secret sins eventually became a featured article in the world's best-selling book. Shameful though it may be for those who have their sins exposed for the whole world to see, if they end up at the foot of the cross, all is well. Remember, scripture says to be sure your sin finds you out. Far better to be ashamed now than to be shamed in the sight of a holy God on judgement day. The bible says, " He who covers his sins will not prosper. But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy". (proverbs 28:13) Father, thank You for the mercy of the cross, where my sin and shame are not only forgiven but also forgotten. Amen
