Description
SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott police officers will be wearing special multi-colored patches in April as part of Autism Awareness Month.
The officers have received training on how to interact with people who have Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Swampscott police note that ASD is a complex mental condition and development disability that can alter the way that person communicates and interacts with other people. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability without a single known cause that can affect each individual differently.
