SOMERVILLE, MA — A Somerville police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon due to an unintentional discharge of his service weapon, said the department in a statement. The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. and the officer was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released. He is expected to make a full recovery and no one else was injured. "The officer's firearm was holstered at the time of the discharge," said Somerville Police Chief Charles Femino. The Somerville Police Department said it is conducting an internal investigation into the matter.
