OAK CREEK, WI — The annual Oak Creek Community Cleanup has been slated for April 23 at locations across the city. Heralded on the city's website as "a great chance to get outside, do some good, and interact with other residents of our community," the cleanup will take place at Drexel Town Square, Bender Park Beach and the Oak Creek Historical Society grounds from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Volunteer service hour forms will be available for students, the city says on its website, and volunteers are encouraged to sign up in advance. You can sign up through the Oak Creek website here. Here's more about each cleanup site that you can help at: Drexel Town Square Volunteers are asked to meet inside the Oak Creek Civic Center for supplies and instruction. The area surrounding the civic center will be the focus of the cleanup efforts. All ages are welcome, people should bring gloves if they have them, and the event will happen rain or shine, the city's website says. Bender Park Beach The Bender Park Beach cleanup will be hosted by the Oak Creek Health Department. If it rains, it will be pushed to April 30, and volunteers are asked to meet in front of the pavilion for materials, the city's website says. The Oak Creek Historical Society Grounds The Oak Creek Historical Society will host a "Day of Caring," meant to be a community-wide effort that connects volunteers and local businesses in order to bring short-term projects with non-profit and public organizations. The Society is looking for 10 or more people to help weed and clean up plantings around each of its buildings as they prepare for new mulch and plants, the city's website says. The grounds are located on the corner of 15th Avenue and Forest Hill Avenue. Volunteers are asked to dress for the weather and to bring their own garden gloves and tools, and in case of rain, the event will be pushed to April 30, the city's website says. More information and sign-up forms for each event are available on the city's website.
