The Dane County Sheriff's Office has received inquiries related to how the public may become aware of when a resident of the Dane County Jail is going to be released from custody. There are numerous scenarios in which residents may be released from the custody of the jail.
Several of those scenarios involve publicly available information:
Initial Appearance Court is still held virtually with a livestream to YouTube that allows the public to actively watch the hearing. https://www.wicourts.gov/courts/livestream.htm Scheduled release dates can be found on the resident roster on the Dane County Sheriff's Office website. https://danesheriff.com/Residents Individuals can sign up for custody status change notifications through VINE, Victim Information Notification Everyday. https://vinelink.com/classic/#/search https://danesheriff.com/Jails/VINE The Circuit Court Access Program is accessible to the public to track a defendant's cases to check the outcome of a court hearing. https://wcca.wicourts.gov/case.html Contacting Dane County Jail Central Booking by phone to check on a resident's status.
