Nassau Police Searching For Infant Boy, Mother Missing Since April 1

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Nassau County police are searching for a woman and her infant child, who have been missing since the start of the month. According to police, 1-year-old Diego Sierra-Flores was last seen at his home in Hempstead at 5:30 a.m. on April 1, and was reported missing on April 6. Police say he is likely with his mother, 25-year-old Yansis Sierra-Mejia. Diego is a Hispanic boy, 2 feet tall and about 25 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Yansis Sierra-Mejia is a Hispanic woman, 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Police do not know what clothes the two were wearing. Police say Yansis may have taken her son to Virginia.
