4 events with senior members of the Philadelphia Federal Reserve. LIMITED CAPACITY. Thursdays from 6:00-7:00pm in PCPSE Room 200. Are you interested in what it is like working at the Fed? Join us for our upcoming guest speaker series, hosted by the Penn Undergraduate Economics Society, where esteemed Penn faculty members will moderate discussions with senior members at the Philadelphia Federal Reserve on their career journeys and roles at the Fed. The month-long event (March 24 – April 14) begins this week and will occur every Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. All events will occur in the Perelman Center for Political Science and Economics, Room 200, for four events in total. The speakers will be: March 24: Robert M. Hunt, Senior Vice President and Associate Director of the Bank’s Consumer Finance Institute (CFI). The CFI studies the credit and payment markets to understand how they affect consumers and the economy. This event will be on March 24th.March 31: Minchul Shun, Machine Learning Economist and Economic Advisor. At the Bank, he has been developing new econometric, statistical, and machine learning tools that can be used in economic forecasting, macroeconomics, and urban economics. This event will be on March 31st.April 7: Benjamin Lester, Senior Economic Advisor and Economist. He is interested in the imperfections or frictions that make real-life markets behave differently than the standard economic models of supply and demand. This event will be on April 7th.April 14: Adam Scavette, Senior Economic Analyst. In his research, he attempts to explore the identity of place through both quantitative analysis and narrative, along with pursuing research projects on local economic issues and labor economics such as broadband infrastructure, the opioid crisis, and the dynamics of manufacturing employment. This event will be on April 14th.These events will be moderated by Dr. Benjamin Keys, Dr. Francis Diebold, Dr. Dirk Krueger, and Dr. Giles Duranton respectively.
