BELLEVUE, WA—Walmart has announced that it will be closing one of its Bellevue locations later this month.
The company confirmed that its Walmart store, located at 12620 SE 41st Pl. in the Marketplace at Factoria, will close to the public on April 22.
In a statement, the company said the decision to close the store was based on several factors, including historic and current financial performance, and that the move is in line with the company's strategy to close underperforming stores.
According to Walmart, all 147 employees of the store are eligible for a transfer within the company.
"This decision is in no way a reflection of their hard work and customer service," the company statement read.
In the statement, Walmart reaffirmed its commitment to the Bellevue area and the state of Washington.
The company pointed out that it still has a Neighborhood Market store, at 15063 Main St, in Bellevue, which is one of 66 Walmart stores and Sam's Clubs in the state.
The company also said that during the fiscal year of 2021, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation contributed approximately $17.2 million in cash and in-kind donations to state and local nonprofits.
"We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our Bellevue location on SE 41st Place," said Lauren Willis, Walmart's global communications director —Western U.S. "We look forward to serving them at our other stores in the surrounding communities and on walmart.com."
