Press release from the Jefferson Parish Government: April 5, 2022 JEFFERSON, LA – The Jefferson Parish Department of Community Development (JPDCD) will be hosting two Jefferson Parish Emergency Rental Assistance Program (JP ERAP) outreach events. The first event will be held on Saturday, Apr. 9, 2022 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Johnny Bright Playground (3401 Cleary Ave., Metairie, LA 70002), and the second event will be held on Saturday, Apr. 23, 2022 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Johnny Jacobs Playground (5851 5th Ave., Marrero, LA 70072). Both events are intended to provide information about the program, as well as allow Jefferson Parish residents to submit a rental assistance application. Please note, residents are not required to bring anything in order to submit an application; however, applications will be processed faster if copies of the following documents are presented: Photo identificationsResident's leaseA utility bill or any other kind of bill that shows Jefferson Parish residencySS Card (if applicable)Proof of housing instability (e.g., past due rent notice, eviction notices and/or past due utility bill)Proof of income (if applicable) Residents are asked to not bring original copies as there will not be copier onsite, and we do not want original copies to be lost. In addition, the Jefferson Parish Community Action Programs (JeffCAP) will be onsite to assist residents who may be behind on their utilities. The Workforce Connection Department will be providing information regarding potential training opportunities, and the Personnel Department will be providing information about current Jefferson Parish jobs and will be utilizing the online application process. The Southeast Louisiana Legal Services will be available to provide information on disaster relief, expungements, and employment and benefits issues. Screening for free legal services will also be available. The Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center will be participating in the Apr. 9, 2022 event and, tentatively, at the Apr. 23, 2022 event, to provide information about eviction defense and fair housing.
