SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Plans for expanded construction along Camino Capistrano are scheduled to start this summer, after the San Juan Capistrano City Council voted to put $10.3 million toward repaving the major through street. San Juan Capistrano residents can expect roadwork and traffic delays on the street soon after the city awards a construction contract in June, a city spokesperson said. The construction will effect these San Juan Capistrano street segments: Camino Capistrano between Dana point at the southern city limit and Laguna Niguel at the northern city limit. Stonehill Drive between Camino Capistrano and the Dana Point border.Avenida Aeropuerto between Camino Capistrano and railroad tracks.Ortega Highway between Camino Capistrano and El Camino Real. The move to repave Camino Capistrano comes after a Pavement Condition Index survey found the city's pavements to be among the worst in Orange County, a city staff report said. City of San Juan Capistrano Courtesy Photo The city will pay roughly $8.1 million in construction costs, $1.5 million in contingency and $700,000 in contract administration for the Camino Capistrano Pavement Rehabilitation Project.
