Press release from the City of Sioux Falls: April 1, 2022 The City of Sioux Falls will host the seventh annual community-wide Big Sioux River Greenway Cleanup on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Volunteers participating in the past events have removed thousands of pounds of garbage and recyclables from the banks of the Big Sioux River and along the recreation trail. Pre-event registration is not required but appreciated. Register for the event at siouxfalls.org/green. "This event provides a great opportunity for family members, friends, and coworkers to get together the day after Earth Day to help keep our river and community clean and healthy," says Sustainability Coordinator Holly Meier. Volunteers can choose what areas of the Big Sioux River Greenway they would like to help clean up and arrive any time between 10 a.m. and 12 noon to donate as much time as they would like. Coordinators will be stationed at all eight locations. Gloves, trash bags, and maps will be provided. The following locations have been selected as meeting areas: A special thank you to the following organizations for helping with this year's event: Americold, Sanford, ISG, RSP, JLG Architects, Smithfield, Sioux Valley Energy, and HDR.
