NORTH JERSEY — Girl Scout cookie season is back in North Jersey, and there's a new cookie debuting. Girl Scouts in Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Sussex, and northern Warren counties could sell cookies beginning Tuesday. A new cookie is debuting this year: Lemon-Ups, crispy lemon cookies with inspirational messages baked onto them like "I am a go-getter" and "I am an innovator." The cookie lineup also includes Thin Mints, Samoas, Trefoils, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, and Toffee-tastics, which are gluten-free. Cookies can be purchased directly from a Girl Scout, or at cookie booths. Search for cookie sales online by entering a ZIP code on the Girl Scouts website here. A local Girl Scout is also appearing on S'mores cookie boxes this year. Aimee Gill was one of the top cookie sellers in North Jersey last year. "The iconic Girl Scout cookie program is so much more than sweet treats," said Betty Garger, CEO and president of the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. "Girls learn to start their own cookie business, set a goal, and decide how to reach that goal. It's really their introduction to entrepreneurship." Email: [email protected]
