PA Woman Kept Dead Grandma In Freezer, Collected Her Social Security

YORK COUNTY, PA — A York County woman this week was convicted of keeping her dead grandmother in a chest freezer and collecting the woman's Social Security payments after her death, according to a report. Cynthia Black, 63, pleaded guilty of abuse of a corpse, a misdemeanor, and felony counts of receiving stolen property and theft by deception, according to Fox 43 report. Home inspectors discovered the body on Feb. 7, 2019, in a chest freezer inside a bank-owned home in Dillsburg. In the freezer were human skeletal remains in black trash bags, with a blanket placed over the bags, Fox 43 reported. Investigators were able to use DNA to identify the remains of Glenora Reckord Delahay, according to WTAJ. Black reportedly cared for her grandmother and told authorities she moved the corpse from Ardmore to Dillsburg in 2007 after finding her grandmother dead, WTAJ reported. Black also was convicted of collecting her grandmother's federal Social Security payments. Police said Delahay was paid $186,000 between 2001 to 2010, WTAJ reported. Black's sentencing is scheduled for June 2.
