ST. MICHAEL, MN — The St. Michael City Council approved changes to the city's voting precincts last month after the state's redistricting process was finalized. Starting with the 2022 general election, St. Michael will have four precincts. The city was previously split into two precincts, one for residents on each side of County Road 19. The former precinct 1A, to the west of County Road 19, will become precincts 1 and 3, while precinct 1B will be split into precincts 2 and 4 to the east of County Road 19. Former STMA Superintendent Mario DeMatteis Dies At 86 St. Michael-Albertville High School and STMA Middle School East will continue to serve as polling places, while officials added new polling places at STMA Elementary School and St. Michael City Hall. Highway 241 will serve as the border between precincts 2 and 4 from County Road 19 to Interstate 94, with precinct 2 to the north and precinct 4 to the south. All St. Michael residents who live east of Interstate 94 will be in precinct 2. Work To Resume This Month On I-94 In Wright County: MnDOT The boundary between precincts 1 and 3 runs west from County Road 19 along Central Avenue/Kahl Avenue/30th Street then runs south along Jamison Avenue/17th Street/Jaber Avenue. Iffert Avenue serves as the western boundary for precincts 1. Courtesy of the City of St. Michael St. Michael is set to remain in Senate District 30 and House District 30A under legislative maps that were recently redrawn by the Minnesota Special Redistricting Panel. The panel created the maps after the Minnesota Legislature could not agree on new maps following the 2020 Census.
