Press release from the City of Shakopee: April 7, 2022 The Shakopee City Council met Tuesday, April 5. Among the meeting highlights: City Council adopts ordinance regulating vaping product sales The City Council adopted an ordinance that restricts the sale of flavored vaping products within city limits. The restrictions pertain to all licensed vaping products that contain a taste or smell other than the taste or smell of tobacco or menthol. The ordinance will go into effect Jan. 1, 2023. Council adopts property maintenance code and residential rental housing ordinance The City Council adopted a property maintenance code and subsequent rental housing ordinance to ensure minimum maintenance standards are being met in rental properties. Minimum maintenance standards include proper heating, functioning appliances, lighting, smoke detectors and pest infestation mitigation measures. City rolls out taxpayer receipt tool The City Council reviewed a new online tool being rolled out that allows Shakopee homeowners to input their 2022 taxable market value and receive an unofficial itemized receipt that shows how those dollars are spent on city services. Council OKs final plat of Whispering Waters Second Addition The City Council approved the final plat of Whispering Waters Second Addition, which is the second and final phase of 59 lots in the 134-lot plat of Whispering Waters. Council approves trail sealcoating contract The City Council approved a contract with Gopher State Sealcoat, Inc. in the amount of $54,804.55 for the 2022 trail sealcoating project. The project involves approximately 57,689 square yards of bituminous trail along various streets, county roads and within city parks. Council approves 2022 roadway maintenance agreement As part of a Joint Powers Agreement for Roadway Pavement Maintenance, the City Council authorized annual maintenance for sealcoating, crack sealing, pavement markings and fog sealing, along with some pavement rehabilitation, in the amount of $605,310 to Pearson Bros.
