Press release from Tulsa Public Schools: April 5, 2022 Dear families, "During their meeting this evening, the Board of Education approved the proposed calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. The calendar is now pending contract negotiations with the Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association (TCTA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and you can find a copy of it on our website at www.tulsaschools.org/calendar. As in prior years, the calendar development process included input from district team members, TCTA, AFT, and school leaders. We also surveyed a group of parents to gather feedback on potential changes. Pending contract negotiations, the 2022-2023 calendar will include an orientation day for students on Tuesday, Aug. 16; this orientation day was added based on the positive feedback we received from families and team members about our 2021-2022 orientation days. The first day of school will be on Thursday, Aug. 18 and the last day will be on Thursday, May 25. The calendar follows a traditional fall, winter, and spring break schedule; there will be no February break. Our 2022-2023 calendar, like those for each of the three prior years, is designed to exceed state requirements while also supporting learning and minimizing student absences by avoiding short weeks as much as possible.
