CenterPoint Energy is continuing to upgrade their pipeline system. The Lakeville segment is planned for a single construction season due to the new alignment of the pipeline. The original line was primarily installed in 1939. It serves Lakeville, Burnsville and other South Metro suburban areas. The new route was chosen to reduce roadway issues, break up traffic control and minimize direct access points, driveways and parking lots, making local access easier.
This is open trench excavation. Construction is done on a few blocks at a time, varying from lane shifts to full closures. Access is maintained for residents and businesses. Restoration is followed closely behind pipe replacement crew and trenches are closed at night. Areas disturbed by CenterPoint Energy's construction will be restored to the original condition, including streets, sidewalks, boulevards and lawns.
