Newark Animal Shelter Brings Dogs To Hospital, Pure Joy Ensues

NEWARK, NJ — Even through their masks, you could see the smiles. In honor of National Nurses Week, the Associated Humane Society of Newark (AHS-Newark) recently hosted a "De-Stress Fest" for the nurses and hospital staff of Newark Beth Israel Hospital. Bringing along two furry pals – Coco Puff and Nico – staff at the AHS-Newark set out for the hospital to have a day of tail-wagging fun. Assistant Executive Director Ken McKeel said the event was a way to give back to the community and other essential workers. "These fearless men and women risk their lives each day to care for those affected by COVID-19 and we wanted to show our support," McKeel said. "Not all heroes wear capes and that is especially true to all of the amazing hospital staff and nurses from Newark Beth Israel Hospital." "From the moment the hospital staff members saw our furry pals it was nonstop playing, pets and fun," McKeel said. "Even while wearing protective masks you could see the huge smile on everyone's faces. AHS Newark hopes to connect with hospitals around the area to bring the joy and light that our pups provide to other deserving nurses."
