PHOENIX, AZ —The band Kongos, which was formed locally, announced Wednesday that it will be playing two shows in Phoenix on the same night next month.
The band's main show will take place at 8:30 p.m. on May 13 at Last Exit Live, 717 S. Central Ave. The 21-and-over concert will feature special guest The Deadbeat Cousins.
Kongos also will be giving a VIP acoustic performance, and conducting a Q&A, at the same venue earlier in the evening, tickets for which are $75.
Tickets for both shows are available online.
Kongos features the four Kongos brothers — Johnny, Jesse, Dylan, and Danny — and hit the big time in 2014 with their smash hit "Come With Me Now." The song went RIAA double-platinum for sales in excess of 2 million and occupied the #1 spot on Alternative Radio for five weeks. The track also has been used in numerous commercials and trailers, according to Phoenix New Times.
Born in South Africa, the brothers grew up in London and Johannesburg before settling in their mother's hometown of Phoenix, attending Chaparral High School in Scottsdale and Arizona State. They formed the band in 2003.
The band's most recent album "1929, Pt.2" was released in 2019, according to Phoenix New Times.
More details about the concert are available on the Last Exit Live website.
