TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox on Thursday named Jason Foster as the city's new chief information officer, effective May 9. The city said in a press release on Thursday that Foster has worked as an IT professional for over 20 years in both technical and management roles. He most recently worked as the associate director of Information Technology for the Center for Advanced Public Safety at the University of Alabama. "I'm excited to welcome Jason to our team at the City," Maddox said. "I believe he has the skills, knowledge and experience to be a perfect fit for this role and I'm excited to see where the IT Department will go under his leadership." Maddox said acting CIO Janna O'Neal will continue to serve in the role until May 9. "The City owes Janna a debt of gratitude for her service and dedication over the last few months," Maddox said. "I've enjoyed working with her and seeing firsthand her passion for the department and the City." Foster's specializations include research computing, infrastructure architecture, systems security, and enterprise networking.
