Jeffco Public Schools, DougCo School District Move 100% Online

LITTLETON, CO — Jeffco Public Schools and the Douglas County School District announced Thursday they are set to move to 100 percent online learning. For Grades 6-12 in Jeffco Public Schools, remote learning will begin Monday and continue until winter break, and Grades K-5 will begin remote learning Nov. 30 and also continue until the winter break. The Douglas County School District will move all classes online Nov. 30. As of Thursday, the district had nearly 5,000 students and staff members in quarantine. "Simply put, we've now reached the point at which the benefits of in-person learning are outweighed by the disruption caused by abrupt transitions to quarantines and by the risk of COVID-19 exposures within our buildings," the district said in a statement. Jefferson County has shifted to 'Level Orange' on Colorado's COVID-19 Dial. "Future quarantine activity is likely to increase and send more of our schools into 24-48 hour closures or transitions to full remote learning on short notice," the school district said in a letter.
