If you are flagging this post repeatedly...is it because you don't think it's true, or are you one of the people living in a dream world where pets are just toys to be discarded when you are through playing with them? Giving away a pet for Free is signing them up for unimaginable Hell. They can become fight bait (cats too) They can end up chained to a tree. They can get dumped when the landlord finds out and they can't pay a pet deposit. They will have babies Over and Over, suffer from fleas and ticks, not to mention heartworms. If you give away supplies with the pet, (crates, toys, litterbox, etc) the people may sell the supplies and dump your pet on the street. Meds and vet care cost quite a bit and not everyone can afford to take care of a pet. So your "beloved" pet is likely headed for a home VERY unlike yours and they will suffer. Maybe YOU got the pet in a whim and never took it to the vet. Well, you have a chance to redeem yourself and give the pet a chance. At least at a rescue or shelter, the animal will be fully vetted and potential adopters are screened, and pay a fee to adopt, which indicates they may have at least the intention of spending the money, time and effort to properly care for the pet. Circumstances change and you may have to rehome your pet. Please do it the right way. Pets aren't toys. They have hearts that can be broken and giving them away can do that...if you truly care for your pet and cannot keep it...please do the right thing and let a shelter or rescue find them a forever home where they will be treated well.
