Description
Orwell is 3 year old, 65 pound, intact male. Very solid team / wheel dog. He trained all season with my Iditarod team, although ultimately did not run the race.
We have a kennel of 50 dogs, and have had Orwell here for about a year, after adopting him from a retiring musher about a year ago. He has made progress in "finding his place" here, although it seems obvious now that he'll never be fully comfortable in such a big dog yard. He gets along very well with all of the other dogs, but doesn't have the confidence necessary to move around bravely. During free time, he consistently hangs at the perimeter, and is nervous to walk through the rows of dogs to get back to his house. He does, however, have decent voice recall, and can be trusted to be loose.
Orwell enjoys being sled dog, and is a trustworthy team member. But the repetitive schedule of long distance race training can cause him to be lazy at times. He is better with more days of rest. We think Orwell would do great in a smaller, more recreational dog yard.
Adoption fee for Orwell is $200. This is not negotiable, but it is refundable in the event that Orwell isn't a good fit for you. Please email or text with your interest. Phone service is poor here, and phone calls are spotty.
