LAKEWOOD, CO—Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul took to social media Tuesday to encourage residents to take 'The cure is us' pledge as way of being part of a nationwide campaign to help minimize the spread of the new coronavirus. So far, he said most residents are heeding state and local health orders. "I know that these times have been quite challenging for all of us, and I just want to reach out and tell you how proud I am everybody coming together to fight this battle," the mayor said in a video posted to Twitter. As of Monday, 1,431 people have contracted COVID-19 and 85 people have died from it in Jefferson County, according to Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. As the state slowly begins to reopen, Paul said Lakewood's effort to fight the virus continues.
