For more information on job functions, requirements and to apply please visit:  This is work performing routine and semi-skilled duties in the maintenance, repair, and construction of County parks, trails and County building grounds. This position is part of the career path in the Park Maintenance field. This temporary position is expected to run from May to September but can be adjusted, depending upon the workload needs and budget of our department. Generally, the hiring range is $17-$18.78 per hour. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary. As a temporary position, no benefits are available. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.) Provides general clean up and maintenance of Parks, Trails and Building Grounds. Turf maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, aeration, fertilization and weed management. Performs routine maintenance and operation of equipment. Works closely with staff on irrigation systems performing installation and programming. Preparation of athletic fields including baseball, softball, soccer, football and lacrosse. OTHER DUTIES: Seasonally clears snow with shovels up to 20lbs. (heavy wet spring snow). Ability to perform strenuous labor for up to 8 hours a day and beyond during snow season. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Close supervision. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not supervise other employees. INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work is performed independently although problem areas are discussed with the supervisor prior to acting. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED is required, unless currently enrolled in high school and pending graduation. Requires some maintenance or construction experience A combination of education and experience may be considered for a well-qualified candidate. Must be at least 18 years of age. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge: Communication: reading, writing, speaking Some knowledge of facility, park, and equipment maintenance, and safety factors is required. Skills: Microsoft Office Suite Skill in the use of tools and equipment involved in maintenance and construction. Operation of equipment and systems, including vehicles Abilities: Physical abilities as outlined in job description Word outdoors in various climates and over various terrain Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to operate pickup trucks, mowers, and tractors. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License class R upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Physical Work Environment: Work is generally performed outdoors in various weather conditions. Physical Demands: Mows with self-propelled 135lb or 175lb power mower or cut weeds with 15lb power weed trimmer. Occasionally shovels dirt and gravel and digs holes for posts using a post hole digger and or 19lb digging bar. Regularly lift and carry up to 50lb materials. Occasionally move and carry up to 80lb materials. Ability to lift and position with assistance ramps to allow tractor loading and unloading from trailer. Ability to pick up and removes trash. Must lift 40 lb. trash bag from ground level to truck bed height. Occasionally operate 2-3lb hand pruners held overhead. Occasionally operate 15lb chain saw with two hands. Requires fine motor dexterity to adjust and maintain power equipment. Frequently must walk over uneven rough terrain either pushing, pulling, or carrying equipment. Requires agility to maneuver rough terrain. Requires ability to sit and drive tractor. Ability kneel on angled surfaces to plant flowers and do other work on the ground.
