Mike's Welding is looking for our summer hires. We have a couple positions we'd like to fill: Position one: Dock installation laborer. Mike's welding is looking to fill a full time summer position starting around the first of May and going until the end of August. This person does NOT need much or any welding experience, but we will most likely teach this person how to do some simple aluminum welding tasks with the MIG welders. This persons main responsibility will be keeping the work truck stocked with the proper tools and materials needed for job installations. This person will be spending 75% of every day riding along in the truck, going to jobsites, and helping the crew load and unload the truck, carry heavy aluminum docks, stairs, and walkways down to riverbank jobs for installation. Experience with power tools preffered, but mostly looking for a younger, strong, healthy, fit, energetic person who likes physical activity. This Job will keep you active everyday, and you will be spending most of the summer out on the beautiful kenai river. Typically i have filled this position with high school juniors, seniors, and college students looking for summer work. Monday-Friday 8-5, plenty of oppurtunity for overtime after hours and on weekends during the summer. Pay will be roughly $17-$22 an hour depending on experience. Position 2: Welder/Fabricator. Mike's Welding is looking to find a somewhat experienced Aluminum welder for a summer welding position. This person will be spending a majority of the time in the shop, building and welding aluminum walkways, floating docks, stairways, handrailings, gates, dip nets, fish cleaning tables, etc. This person should have a pretty decent knowledge of welding and fabricating practices, and power tool experience. This person will be working in a shop with 3-5 other people, so a team player is necessary. We mostly do Aluminum MIG welding, some TIG, along with some steel wire feed and stick welding on occassion. The more experience you bring to the team, the higher your pay will be. $22-$28 an hour DOE. Monday-Friday 8-5 starting around end of April to end of September. If this employee fits in well and learns fast and is a good part of the team, there is decent potential for a full time position year round. This person may be assisting on jobsites installing some of our bigger stairway systems and dock systems.
