JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — More than 200,000 ballots have been returned in Jefferson County, officials announced Monday. Anyone who didn't receive their ballot by Monday is asked to contact the elections office, which can issue you a replacement by mail until Oct. 26. You can also go to any in-person vote center in Jeffco; however officials are encouraging voters to use drop boxes whenever possible amid the coronavirus pandemic. As of Saturday, 210,921 ballots were returned in Jefferson County: Republicans: 50,958Democrats: 78,180Unaffiliated: 79,532Minor party: 2,251 Twenty-one new drop boxes were added in the county, many of which don't require voters to get out of their vehicles. "Every box is on 24/7 video surveillance and collections are only made by bipartisan teams of background-checked election workers who put them into sealed transport bags before bringing them back to our processing center," Jeffco Clerk and Recorder George Stern said in an elections update. Federal intelligence officials held a news conference Wednesday to warn of what they call "foreign interference." "Since 2013, Colorado's mail-ballot elections model has been shown to be accessible, safe, and secure," Stern said. "There's good reason that experts across the political spectrum have recognized our state as one of the safest in which to cast a ballot. And it's no wonder that the state's 64 county clerks—Republican, Democratic, and unaffiliated alike—are enthusiastic supporters of the Colorado model."
