County Roads To Be Chip Sealed Starting Monday In HoCo

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Almost two dozen roads across Howard County will undergo a "chip seal" process starting Monday to help extend the lifespan of the roads by seven to 10 years. Crews will be spraying liquid asphalt emulsion on the roadway and immediately cover the surface with fine stone. Rubber-tired rollers then push the stone into the asphalt emulsion. Once the stone adheres to the asphalt emulsion, loose stone is swept. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late October. Signs and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed as lane shifts can be expected during construction hours weekdays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. County roads to be treated are: Brookeville: Jennings Chapel Road (MD 97 to Daisy Road in Woodbine). Cooksville: Old Frederick Road (MD 32 to MD 94 in Woodbine). Ellicott City: Triadelphia Road (MD 144 to Folly Quarter Road). Mount Airy: Old Frederick Road (Woodbine Road to Twin Arch Road); Watersville Road (Old Frederick Road to West Watersville Road); West Watersville Road (Watersville Road to Old Frederick Road). Sykesville: Forsythe Road (Old Frederick Road to West Friendship Road); Gaither Road (Forsythe Road to county line); Underwood Road (Forsythe Road to Old Frederick Road). West Friendship: Fox Meadow Lane (MD 144 to dead end); Pfefferkorn Road (MD 144 to Ten Oaks Road in Glenelg); Rover Mill Road (McKendree Road to Pfefferkorn Road). Woodbine: Annapolis Rock Road (Hipsley Mill Road to MD 94); Daisy Road (Union Chapel Road to Jennings Chapel Road); Ed Warfield Road (Daisy Road to Jennings Chapel Road); Florence Road (Ed Warfield Road to MD 94); Florence Road (Ed Warfield Road to Long Corner Road in Mount Airy); Hipsley Mill Road (Jennings Chapel Road to county line); Jennings Chapel Road (Daisy Road to Florence Road); Newport Road (MD 94 to county line); Woodbine Morgan Road (Morgan Station Road to MD 94).
