A workshop for parents of students with autism new to the IEP process, meeting twice monthly to focus on emerging needs & concerns.
Kate Cumiskey, former programs and placement administrator for Exceptional Student Education in Volusia County Schools and former Coordinator of Educational Training Programs at the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, UCF, Florida DOE, will train parents in the ins and outs of IEPs. At a recent training for parents of students with Down Syndrome, it was suggested that a training or series of them is needed for parents of students with autism. We will have a presentation for the first hour, then a Q & A session. Future meetings will feature guest presenters including teachers, parents, and individuals who have been through Volusia schools who have autism. We will meet twice monthly. If you are not vaccinated for Covid-19, please contact Kate to see about attending virtually rather than in person. This group is limited to five individuals.
