Unique human service agency providing an array of Therapeutic Supports is looking for VOCATIONAL/EQUINE COACHING STAFF in Merrimac, MA, and Georgetown, MA. PT/FT. Will provide horse care, equine related guidance, vocational training and employment coaching to Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Horse/farm experience preferred. Full Covid vaccination and Fingerprint-based criminal background check required. Competitive compensation. Several positions open. Description: • Provide equine related guidance, instruction, vocational training, and employment and direct care supports to Individuals participating in Flexible Day Supports at various locations/sites • Follow and implement all safety guidelines, procedures, and assessment results to ensure that Individual’s health, personal, and safety needs are met at all times • Provide job coaching as needed at agency and community based equine/farm employment sites • Follow protocols and policies, adhere to reporting requirements, including DPPC’s and Incident Reports, and maintain all required documentation including time cards • Participate in all necessary training, obtain required certifications, and perform non- skilled nursing tasks, such as tube feedings, assist with transportation and personal care as needed • Assist with implementation of ISP goals and follow established therapeutic guidelines including Positive Behavior Supports and Trauma Informed Approaches • Assist with crisis intervention when necessary and appropriate • Provide information related to the Americans with Disabilities Act and promote and teach Human Rights and self-advocacy skills • Assist with equine related emergencies • Assist with performance of horsemanship tasks and barn management • Assist in the training and exercise of horses and therapeutic animals • Assist with lessons (i.e. side walking if needed) • Assist in the facilitation of additional activities as assigned Primary Collaborative Functions • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to teach specific marketable equine vocational skills and competencies to Individuals • Assist in the development of equine/farm related employment seeking and maintenance skills • Assist in the development of employment related personal and social skills such as communication, team- work, self-regulation, and conflict resolution • Assist in the development of individualized vocational and employment goals and career plans • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of employment related educational opportunities such as classes or webinars • Assist with specific completion of tasks necessary to maintain individual Flexible Day Program sites i.e. animal care, farming, etc • Provide assistance and guidance to Individuals engaging in equine/farm related entrepreneurial venues/ventures Supervision Works as part of a team under the supervision of Barn Manager. Education Minimum requirements High School Diploma or GED, Associate’s Degree preferred. Preferred Experience Experience in working with horses/donkeys in a variety of capacities. Prefer experience in supporting Individuals with disabilities and/or mental health challenges. Also must share the belief that people with impairments have the ability to self direct and participate in meaningful activities, continue their education, participate in vocational skills training, engage in entrepreneurial initiatives, and contribute meaningfully. Experience in vocational training, or employment in an equine/farm setting. Demonstrates creative problem-solving skills. • Works well independently and as part of a team. • Demonstrates initiative, commitment, and positive energy. • Demonstrates personal awareness/self-reflection related to work issues and performance and is committed to personal and professional growth. • Understanding of Shared Living Collaborative, and funding agencies’ policies, procedures, and regulations. (training can be provided) • Ability to work effectively with all collaterals. • Applicants must also demonstrate a knowledge related to all essential safeguards and procedures such as fire safety, environmental, and street safety. • Current CPR, First Aid, Human Rights certification (training can be provided) • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act.
