Learn how to identify different types of wood and which types to use for your home projects.
Join wood expert, Mark Bickford, as he presents an introductory guide to all things wood. Topics covered include wood properties, characteristics of different species , grading and usage. We'll tour the warehouse to learn about reclaimed wood and, weather permitting, take a short walking tour of neighborhood trees.
Mark has a Forestry Degree from the University of New Hampshire and is a certified lumber inspector having graduated from the National Hardwood Lumber Association in Memphis, TN.
Mark worked in the Forestry and Lumber industry for several years, before becoming an antique dealer for the next 25 years where he used his background to help identify, restore, and appreciate wood and wood furniture. Mark currently works for Penny Mustard, a Wisconsin-based hand-made furniture company.

Additional parking available along Hartrey St. or in the lot at the southwest corner of Dempster and Hartrey.This workshop is 18+We'll be in a warehouse so please wear close-toed, sturdy shoes and dress for outside.Masks encouraged.Refunds and Exchanges:
If you can’t make it to a class, you can transfer your ticket to someone 18 or older. Just email [email protected] with their name and email address.If the Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse needs to cancel a workshop, we will notify you 24 hours before the class and give you the option of refund or reschedule.We do not currently offer other refunds or transfers between classes.
