AYER, MA — Emergency crews are responding to Ayer after receiving word that a person was struck by a train Wednesday afternoon. According to an emergency alert on Twitter, a person was reported to be struck by a train in Depot Square around 3:45 p.m. Officials requested a med flight, and multiple outlets reported that the victim will be taken to Nashoba Hospital. Police were on the scene, investigating the cause by 4 p.m. The MBTA says all Fitchburg Line trains will experience significant delays due to police activity in the area, and Fitchburg Line Train 419 has been terminated. No additional information was immediately available.
