WAUKESHA, WI — Shawn Reilly is leading the Waukesha mayoral race with over 8,000 votes, data from the Waukesha County Clerk showed. Reilly will work on finishing his water infrastructure project and find ways to improve the city, he told Patch in a phone call. "I'm happy to be re-elected, and citizens have recognized my good job for the past eight years," he added. Mayoral incumbent Reilly won 8,172 votes in the Waukesha Mayoral race, making up 63.9 percent of 12,781 votes entered to the mayoral election, according to the data. The incumbent's opponent, Lisa Salb, won 4,214 votes, clerk data showed. Over 300 write-in votes were submitted as well. In different interviews, the mayoral candidates said they would put party politics aside to address issues in the city. Six people ran for school board in Waukesha's largest public district: Greg Deets, William Baumgart, Sarah Harrison, Marquell Moorer, Mark Borowski and Karrie Kozlowski. There were 12,781 votes in the mayoral election, data from the Waukesha County Clerk showed. There were a whopping 53,923 contest votes for school board seats. Lisa Salb, who is the chair of the Landmark's Commission, said affordable housing was a higher priority in the city than high-end apartments, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Sarah Harrison is a first-time candidate for public office and her goals were to help children succeed by closing the achievement gap and holding quality educators, she told Patch. Deets, an incumbent candidate, said his priorities were the academic success and addressing social and emotional needs of all students, he said in a Patch questionnaire. Baumgart is another incumbent who said his experience in the school board was what qualified him. He told Patch that politics had worked into the school board, and he would "work for sanity."
