NEW YORK CITY — Let's not play ball, the New York Yankees said Wednesday.
Rainy weather forecasts forced the Yankees to postpone their opening day game against the Boston Red Sox, originally scheduled for Thursday, the team announced.
The game is now slated to begin at Yankee Stadium on Friday at 1:05 p.m.
Opening day ticket-holders can either use them Friday or exchange them for similar season games at Yankee Stadium, according to the Yankees raincheck policy.
The Yankees announced the postponement on Twitter Wednesday morning and, predictably, fans had questions and suggestions.
"How is it 2022 and we still can't play baseball because it's raining?" asked Sean Lightyear.
Replied Eric Schrader, "Build a roof!"
