WOODBRIDGE, VA — Two men attempted to rob a victim in the parking lot of the Potomac Mills mall on Sunday night, police said. No injuries were reported in the unsuccessful robbery attempt. The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Sunday night. The victim, a 50-year-old man, told police that he was parked in the lot when a red vehicle pulled up behind him. The red vehicle prevented him from driving away, according to the police report. Two masked people exited the red vehicle and tried to open the victim's driver's side door. The victim stayed inside the vehicle and kept the door locked, police said. At one point, one of the masked people retrieved a gun. He demanded property from the victim, who refused, according to the police department. The would-be robbers then left the parking lot, police said. The suspects did not make any physical contact with the victim, and no gunshots were fired, authorities said. The victim said he did not lose any property in the robbery attempt. Police said the two masked suspects also had a driver in their vehicle. The police report described the suspects as men between 18 and 20 years old. They were about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and had thin builds. Anyone with more information about the robbery or the suspects can contact the police department's tipline at 703-792-7000.
