WOODBRIDGE, VA — Police in Prince William County filed stalking and abducting charges against a Lorton man on Tuesday. Authorities said the man stalked a woman, took her car, and later cut her off in traffic, forcing her to pull onto the side of the road. Around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, a 42-year-old woman told police that an acquaintance took her vehicle without permission and refused to return it. When the victim returned to her home that evening, she saw the acquaintance drive behind her, according to the police report. Authorities identified the acquaintance as 47-year-old Alfred Adams of Lorton. After she saw Adams behind her, the victim drove away. Adams followed her, police said. On Rippon Boulevard, Adams cut off the victim's vehicle, which forced her to stop on the side of the road, the police department said. Adams then tried to open the victim's car door, according to the police report. The victim drove away and called the police. During their investigation, officers determined that Adams had tried to enter the victim's home multiple times. Officers also said Adams would follow the victim home. On Tuesday, Adams turned himself in. He is charged with abduction, attempted malicious wounding, conspiracy to commit abduction, conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, grand larceny, and stalking. He is being held without bond, and his court date is pending. The Stalking Awareness and Prevention Resource Center offers several resources for stalking victims. Victims can record incidents of stalking and report them to the Prince William County Police Department at 703-792-6500. If anyone is in immediate danger, please call 911.
