Newtown PD Teams With Brookfield PD To Expand Cadet Program

NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown and Brookfield police departments are partnering to expand the Police Cadet Program to help youths learn about law enforcement. "This is a great opportunity for youths between 13 and 20 years of age who have an interest in law enforcement to get some real hands on experience," officials wrote on Facebook (see below). In addition to the age requirements, prospective cadets cannot have prior arrests, and drug and alcohol use is not allowed. The program is run out of the Newtown Police Department, and youths from both communities are eligible. Cadet meetings are held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
