HARLEM, NY — Break out your spandex and bike shoes: Harlem Cycle has opened the doors to a new location on 125th Street. Based since 2016 in a below-ground space on Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard, the popular fitness studio swung open the doors on Saturday to its second location at 60 West 125th St. — part of a new 17-story building between Fifth and Lenox avenues. At 1,500 square feet, the new studio is larger than Harlem Cycle's other location, and features 25 Life Fitness-brand stationary bikes. The company is led by founder Tammeca Rochester, who told Patch last year about the difficulties of keeping her business afloat during the pandemic, which wiped out several of Harlem's gyms and yoga studios. "So I created a space where we all feel comfortable no matter what level we are starting from, a place where we all feel like we can belong." Bookings are now open for the new location, which offers morning and afternoon classes seven days a week. With the goal of amplifying other small businesses, the new space also features a large mural by artist Lance Johnson, scents from Harlem Candle Co. and the 125th Street Candle company, and wellness products from Gwell, Peak and Valley, and Golde.
