Description

Tour will walk along Cherry S.E. and College S.E., south of Cherry. This is the 2nd tour of our year-long series of walking tours each with their unique itineraries and featuring different homes and stories. If you want to time travel - and step back into an era of graceful, elegant living and imagine life as heir to a furniture company fortune - then, explore Heritage Hill with your popular guide, Caroline Cook. This is the city’s oldest residential district and Michigan’s largest and finest concentration of nineteenth and early twentieth-century houses. These were the homes of lumber barons, politicians, bankers, attorneys, judges and clothiers who shaped the city’s future. This is where the upper crust lived…on “the hill”. Learn about the history of these magnificent historic homes…both the architecture and the people who built them. This tour is divided into multiple parts as it traverses varying sections of the stunning, tree-lined residential streets. Plan to meet your fitness goals in 2022 by strolling through history with local guide, Caroline Cook, as she narrates home histories in a year-long series of walking tours. Proceeds benefit the Heritage Hill Association. Please note the varying routes for each outdoor tour. Each tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. Meeting place details will be provided upon receipt of payment. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather; event will take place rain or shine!
