LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating several incidents around the region. Some more notable investigations included a pedestrian who was hit by a car in Ashburn, and a man who tried to call to children near Rolling Ridge Elementary School in Sterling. Around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies learned of a robbery in a Sterling parking lot. The robbery occurred in the 400 block of Enterprise Street, authorities said. One man said he was approached by someone in the parking lot who asked for money. The man complied and then went into a business, according to the police report. When he returned to the parking lot, the man said he saw the same person reaching into a vehicle and pulling a purse away from another victim. The man said money was missing from his vehicle. Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing black jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, red and white tennis shoes, and a black baseball cap. On Monday afternoon, there was a suspicious incident in the 21600 block of North Sterling Boulevard near Rolling Ridge Elementary School. A witness said he saw man trying to get the attention of two children. The children ignored the man, who got into the passenger side of a gray SUV and drove away, police said. At 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies received a report of a woman who was struck by a car near Stonegarden Terrace and Mooreview Parkway. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a woman whose foot was run over by a vehicle. The vehicle that hit her fled the scene, police said. Deputies said they found a suspect at a gas station on Wellfleet Drive. The suspect, Emilio Maldonado, is charged with one count of hit and run.
